I am M. Desiree`, and I started writing when I was 13 years old. I remember the exact moment when I decided to start writing books; I had just finished reading a novel by Cindy Woodsmall called When The Heart Cries. It is one of my favorite books still to this day. I remember after reading it that I was so incredibly touched by her story and wondering how in the world people come up with incredible stories...and then it hit me that people, authors, imagine everything in their mind and then write!
I've always had a very active imagination, coming up with different scenarios and things when I was bored or playing with friends. So, with that knowledge in mind, I sat at my computer and started writing down my ideas...and that is how my writing began.
My stories usually start with a random idea / image I see in my head, and then I keep expanding on that idea / image until I have it stretched all the way out into a full movie playing in my head from beginning to end where I form the characters, plot, and setting. With it being slightly outlined in my mind in chronological order of what I want to happen and when, then I sit at my computer and let my fingers fly over keyboard to type out the story playing in my head.
I have written several different types and genres of stories, but my 2 published novels are paranormal / romance themed. I thought it would be fun to escape into a mythical filled world away from reality; a world that involves mythical creatures, but not in the scary, terrifying sense that most are portrayed in.
On The Edge of the Forest is actually one of my very first books that I wrote. I was very proud of it and excited, so much so that I gave my manuscript to my brother for his opinion on it. It was titled something else at the time, and he had suggested the title change and offered a few revisions to make. I took his advice and was actually in the process of working on those revisions when he passed away in 2009. While working on editing my book, I really worked through a lot of my emotional struggles with his passing and interjected some of those emotions into my novel. In 2010, I had the opportunity to publish it. Getting published was my dream, so I pounced on the opportunity and rushed through the process to get it published.
Now that I am much older, I wish I had waited just a little longer to get it edited and polished properly as it has a few errors, as you can imagine with writing it at the age of 16 and younger! But I was so excited to get a dream of mine fulfilled.
About a year later, my second novel in the series was published as well.
My writing has never stopped. I've written several more books, including the last 2 books in this series. I just have not had the time nor financial means to publish more of my work as of yet. And as I started navigating my way through this crazy thing called adulthood, my writing has been put on pause.
But my passion for writing is burning brighter and stronger than ever so I am digging in, working on a lot of different projects and I really really hope to get many, many more of my books published!
I am currently 30 years old. Some of the things I enjoy besides writing, obviously, is going camping in the mountains where I can sit around a crackling campfire or lounge by the peaceful, bubbling creek. I also enjoy horse-back riding, ATV riding, reading, going on nature walks, and spending time with my family and dogs.
Thanks for reading!
